My Story

Why Degan Doodles Exists

I am Sarah, the autistic author and creator behind Degan Doodles. My books are shaped by lived autistic experience and by the belief that children deserve resources that respect different ways of learning, communicating and experiencing the world.

Throughout my life, I have faced many difficulties — from putting my thoughts into words to being understood in a world that does not always respect the time and manner in which autistic people may learn and communicate. Those experiences showed me how important it is to create resources that are clear, welcoming and respectful of different needs and learning styles.

From this journey, Degan Doodles was born — a project created with love and empathy, dedicated to developing educational and accessible books for autistic and neurodivergent children, and for those with ADHD. My mission is to provide resources that not only teach, but also build confidence, encourage creativity, strengthen self-esteem, and show every child that they are capable.

I believe we all learn in our own time and in our own way. That is why every book I create is designed to be a genuine support tool, both for children and for the families, teachers, and therapists who walk alongside them.

More than simply publishing books, I want Degan Doodles to be a space of care, inclusion, and hope — where every child feels represented and respected, where every family finds tools to support their children with love, and where together we can build a world in which diversity is not only accepted, but truly celebrated.

The Mission

Books Created to Support Real Childhood Moments

Degan Doodles brings together autism-friendly illustrated stories, daily-routine books, coloring books, dot marker activities, connect-the-dots and tracing, school stories and gentle Christian Bible stories.

The books use clear visual compositions, familiar situations and simple storytelling. The goal is not to make every child learn in the same way, but to offer different ways to engage, explore and grow.

These books are created for children, but also with families, teachers and therapists in mind — people who are often looking for practical, approachable resources they can use together.
